What is the Kid’s Marathon?

Pensacola Kid’s Marathon is special for area children ages 5-12. The split a marathon into 3 segments over an eight-week period. This past Saturday, the kickoff included a one mile run (4 laps around the University of West Florida Track). Then over the next eight weeks they will run, walk or wheelchair at home or school. At the end, the children will run a final 1.2 mile run following the Pensacola Marathon on November 11th, 2012 at 12:30pm. Upon completion, the children will have run and logged a full 26.2 miles. The children receive a Kids Marathon T-shirt and a Kids Marathon medallion.

So many children are not participating in some sort of exercise for at least 30 minutes each day. I can not think of a better way to get these kids moving, off the couch and out of the house.

I had so much fun running with all the kids! So glad I had the opportunity to be part of this. I can’t wait to see them on November 11th after I run the Half Marathon.

AND NOW FOR MOTIVATION MONDAY!
